Meds4Mexico

Helping Friends and Neighbors is what Meds4Mexico is about.

Meds4Mexico was started quite by accident in 2006. Terry Summers was asked to drop off some supplies to an HIV clinic in TJ. When he was asked again he never hesitated. Terry saw the need that the clinic had for medications and supplies for people with HIV. He started to gather items from people in 2006 and by the end of the year he had delivered an estimated half a million dollars in medications, supplies, and other items. By the time 2007 was finished an estimated one million dollars in medications, supplies, clothes, bedding, personal care items, toys, food and other items were delivered to several community projects. As of June 1, 2008, it is estimated that over one million dollars worth of supplies and meds have been taken to the clinic and orphanage and new partner, Casa de Paz, a hospice located in Rosarito. Other small community projects also receive items donated from Meds4Mexico.

Meds4Mexico also works with local pharmacies, clinics, hospices in the Southern California area, including Los Angeles, Palm Springs, and the San Diego, to let patients know that if they have unused medications there is a place for them to go. We place brochures in pharmacies, medical clinics, and other agencies. We have several "Angels" who purchase items such as clothing, food and baby care items.

Christmas 2007, a toy drive was conducted in San Diego with donation boxes set out at 2 different businesses. In the short time the boxes were up, we filled 15 banana sizes boxes full of toys, stuffed animals and clothing.

Meds4Mexico is in the process of applying for non profit status in the State of California and with the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)3 agency in the United States. We also plan to apply for non profit status in Mexico as an A.C. Agencial Civil.

All monies from the fund raisers will be used to pay expenses for Meds4Mexico and will also be shared with other community projects.
